Frequently Asked Questions
Can ABM NeuroMovement® help my child?
We have seen the “impossible” become possible for many children and adults with a variety of challenges.
The Anat Baniel Method® NeuroMovement® approach has helped children from 5 days old to adults 90 years and older, overcome limitations and transform their lives physically, emotionally, and cognitively.

How can I book lessons with a visiting practitioner or one of the UK practitioners?
There are various ways to book lessons:
Either call us directly on (+44)7873 990 399 or (+44)7816 775 518
Click Get in touch and submit the contact us form and/or complete the Registration word document directly here. Completing the Registration document will provide us with the details we need to best guide you. We can inform you about the upcoming practitioners’ availability according to your preferences.
An invoice will be sent to you before the intensive begins. Payment should be made by bank transfer a week before the start of the intensives.
Do you provide home visits?
If there are a number of families within an area that would be interested in lessons then we could consider arranging for one of our visiting or local practitioners to attend your area for an intensive but the practitioner would not travel from one home to another. We would need to have a base to work from that families could visit.
Sometimes families provide their homes for hosting and sometimes we work from rented accommodation or hotels. We have currently sent practitioners to do intensives to North London, Kent, Manchester, Teesside, Aberdeen, Mullingar, Galway, Nenagh, Dublin, Northern Ireland, Wales and even as far as Slovakia and Malta.
Please contact us to find out more about making this happening.
How is ABMNM® different to physiotherapy?
My child already does physio/CME/CE/MAES. Can this be done in line with ABMNM® ?
How long is each lesson?
Each lesson is up to 45 minutes long. An ABM NeuroMovement® practitioner will stop the session when they feel that the adult/child has reached the limit of his or her ability to learn and respond at that moment. The remaining time can be used to answer any questions you or parents have or provide guidance if called for. The lessons are driven by learning and not solely by time as in some instances it can be counter productive to progress to keep going to just fill the time. Our practitioners are experienced at judging this.
How old does a child have to be to start ABM NeuroMovement® lessons?
The younger the better! If you have an older child or are an adult, the learning never stops so it is never too late to start! It will also depend on why you are coming to see us. The method has helped many high performing athletes, dancers and musicians.
The adult/child is happy with their current ABM NeuroMovement® practitioner. Is there any benefit in introducing a different practitioner?
We feel this is one of the strongest benefits of our Center in being able to bring a variety of practitioners. Every practitioner will bring something different to the client that can only result in greater benefit to them. Each practitioner will observe the client through different eyes so the variety of practitioners will be hugely beneficial. We have personally noticed that we see different areas of our own children developing and changing with different practitioners.
What is meant when we talk about connecting as opposed to fixing?
Any good tips when coming in for an intensive?
Please wear comfortable clothing and bring extra snacks and water for you or your child. The lessons can make the client very hungry. Do not plan a busy day on the day of an intensive. It is important to allow for rest following the lessons to get the best out of it. Rest is vital to integrating the learning. Please refer to our what to expect document for more information
How long before I see results?
Results can be seen during the intensive, after an intensive and weeks later. Never underestimate what is a small change and always remember to connect with your yourself/ your child and remove thoughts of trying to fix them.
How often should we get lessons?
Monthly intensives are generally recommended at the start. This is where the client will ideally get 10 lessons across 5 days. It is a far more effective way of learning than once per week as the brain gets into a higher state of learning during intensives. By booking multiple lessons, our brains are given an influx of quality information to work with. To receive the most from your ABM NeuroMovement® intensive you should not combine other therapies at the same time. The reason for this is that to do so may confuse the brain during the ABM NeuroMovement® learning process which could result in not seeing the gains that you would otherwise. Importantly, if you also do too many things at one time, how do you know which is the one bringing the actual benefit?
What should I expect in an ABM NeuroMovement® lesson?
When you see an ABM NeuroMovement® practitioner, you cannot expect a specific outcome at a specific time. What you can expect is for the client to begin changing practically right away, for us to guide you in seeing the changes and what they mean, for the client to become a better learner and to continuously improve how they move, think, feel and interact with others.
How does an Online Coaching lesson differ from a hands-on in-person lesson?
It is good to think of two prongs to ABM NeuroMovement®. One is the hands-on ABM NeuroMovement® lesson where a practitioner will be using the 9 essentials through the art of their touch and movement to provide information to the clients’ brain that they are working with. The second prong, is equally as important as a practitioner is able to use their understanding of the 9 essentials and guide and coach the parent over zoom, in the child’s natural environment on how to implement those relevant essentials in their daily lives with their children and others
What is the difference between Dr. Feldenkrais work and the Anat Baniel Method® NeuroMovement®?
Anat found a remarkable teacher in Dr. Feldenkrais and worked very closely with him in the last few years of his life. She has taken the work of Dr. Feldenkrais and evolved it over many years. Her work with both children and adults, in parallel with training thousands of people, has given her a huge amount of experiences which help her better understand how the brain works. ABM NeuroMovement® is an evolution and a significant progression of the remarkable legacy of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais.
What is the evidence for this method?
Existing research in neuroplasticity and a growing number of new research studies support the theory underlying ABM NeuroMovement®. This research helps to explain the breakthrough outcomes that clients experience.
An increasing number of brain scientists, doctors, nurses, therapists, teachers, parents and others in helping professions are beginning to use the brain plasticity strategies and principles of ABM NeuroMovement®.
View videos from Dr. Michael Merzenich, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor and Martha Herbert to learn why they support Anat’s work and Method.
What are Transformational Movement Lessons or TML’s? Will they benefit my child?
You will be guided through a series of movements to help you gain greater awareness and understanding of how you move. Positive changes may include pain relief, increased ease of movement, better balance, and a sense of well-being. For parents, the work will translate through them, to their child, the more they do it for themselves. The more a parent refines their awareness, the more a parent refines the awareness of their child. If you only focus on how to do things with your child, you are missing an opportunity for you and for the child.
Is there any way that I can apply for funding to cover the costs of the ABM NeuroMovement® lessons?
There are a few avenues to explore with regards to funding. Some families have been successful in having a small contribution to the ABM NeuroMovement® lessons through some charities, one of which is called Boporan. Please do contact us so that we can guide you further. There is also the option of fundraising through Children’s Charity, Medical Fundraising & Crowdfunding - Tree of Hope.
In addition, we also have some pending applications from families with their local authorities about using their councils’ private budget to fund these lessons. The outcome of these will be shared with families as and when we hear but please do reach out to find out more.
What COVID procedures do you have in place?
We are continually monitoring the need to implement safe protocols but at the time being (2024) we do not have any restrictions in place at our centre although we of course recommend good judgment on behalf of the parents. We request that children who have had fevers or diarrhoea to be kept at home.
What is the cancellation policy?
If the cancellation is due to an illness our policy is that any child with a fever, diarrhoea or vomiting should be clear for at least 48 hours before attending lessons. We may be able to reschedule the lesson for a later date or a refund can be given instead.
If the cancellation is due to another reason, then a refund may be given if discussed at least 14 days before the start of the intensive. If less than 14 days notice is provided, a refund will only be given if lessons can be rescheduled for another family. In the event we cannot reschedule a lesson and a refund can’t be provided, this is a great opportunity for you to offer the lesson to someone else you know who may benefit from the work so the session is not wasted.
If the cancellation is due to exceptional unforeseen reasons, then please contact us to discuss.
When practitioners are sent to different locations within the UK or Europe, we reserve the right to amend our usual cancellation policy. This is because expenses may have already been incurred for the planned host based on booking demand.
