How it began

Creating Connections was conceived in 2019 due to the shortfall of highly experienced ABM NeuroMovement® practitioners in the UK and the abundance of children and adults that could benefit from the work.

Simon first started hosting highly experienced ABM NeuroMovement® practitioners from the USA in his home in South West London who he had met while completing his ABM NeuroMovement® training. During one of these host Simon met Kavita who was bringing her son for lessons and it was agreed she would come on board to help with the families. As demand grew, so did the amount of practitioners looking to come and now they have practitioners coming every month.

Both Simon and Kavita have special needs children, and after seeing the benefits the work brought to their kids, they were emboldened by the aim of bringing the work to as many families as possible and formally set up Creating Connections.

While the home environment worked well at the start and provided that homely feel for the families, once COVID-19 struck, they knew they needed something more permanent in a commercial property that would allow them to remain open to allow people to keep on benefiting from the work.

In 2022, we moved to new premises

When the opportunity arose to redevelop a property on Roehampton High Street, they jumped at the chance. After submitting a successful tender to Wandsworth Council, they were awarded the space at 18 Roehampton High Street. The aim was to continue to provide a homely feel where everyone could enjoy spending time before or in-between lessons (covid-19 regulations dependent of course!). The space also had to be appealing and welcoming to both children and adults to cater to their wide customer base.

In tandem, and as demand grew and with a better appreciation of the challenges that families and adults face when travelling long distances, they started sending the practitioners to other locations including North London, Essex, Manchester, Teesside, Aberdeen and Ireland allowing many families and adults desperately needing the work to reap the benefits while cutting down their costs.

As well as boosting the visibility of the work, for it to be as its most powerful, they also wanted to increase the knowledge base of ABMNM® in the UK by sharing information with families about any ABMNM® related activity, events and workshops.

By creating an expanding community of families, they hope to be able to better support each other in all the challenges that lay ahead.

Thanks to the work of our tireless practitioners we hope to utilise ABMNM® to help dramatically improve clients physical, cognitive, emotional and social development resulting in improved movement, thinking, self regulation and connection with others.

As well as our travelling practitioners, we have teamed up with wonderful local practitioners within London and the surrounding area to connect them with families and adults requiring the work.
